The Carnegie Library was located at the corner of Travis Street and McKinney Avenue. The lot for the building was purchased from the First Presbyterian Church in early 1900s, with the library opening in 1904. The lot and building were sold back to the Church twenty-four years later. The building was deemed too small fifteen years after it was built.

A printed reproduction of an oil painting of Dick Dowling, an Irishman from Houston and Confederate Army war hero, in uniform with descriptive caption. At the time of his death from yellow fever in 1867, the "Houston Telegraph" considered him "Houston's most important citizen." Among his accomplishments he was a sound businessman, member of Houston's first fire department, bought and sold real estate, and helped found the first oil company in Houston.
Caption: "Dick Dowling. Hero of the Battle of Sabine Pass, Texas. 43 Defeated 15,000. This Picture is a copy of an Oil Painting in the Texas room in the Confederate Museum in Richmond, Va. It was painted by Mr. Donnelan, a Houston, Texas, Artist of much note."

The Heights Hotel was located on the northeast corner of 19th and Ashland in the Heights area of Houston. The building was built by Oscar Martin Carter in the late 1890s and later used as the Horne Sanatorium. The structure was destroyed by fire June 1, 1915.

Two story Kellum-Noble House in Houston. It was constructed in 1847 of brick made in the Kellum brickyards on the property. This is the oldest known house in Houston still standing on its original site. The city of Houston bought the property in 1899. L. L. Walker was the the first Houstonian to fly an airplane. He is hidden by a wing and sits at the controls of a Bleriot type airplane of his own design. Seven unidentified men also stand around the plane. This photograph was taken at the start of Walker's attempt to fly to Galveston late in 1910, Walker only reached La Marque, Texas on that trip.
