As dusk approached, the Marines of VMB-613 would be called to the Fleet Marine Theatre in the squadron's recreation area with strains of Doris Day singing Sentimental Journey. The Fleet Marine Theatre proved to be a very popular source of entertainment, despite the fact that ponchos had to be worn frequently due to rain.

VMB-613's galley is the area that all food for the squadron members was prepared. The squadron galley was located between, and connected with, the Officers' and Senior NCO's Mess on one side, and the Enlisted Men's Mess on the other. From the air, the Mess and Galley buildings looked like an "H."

Two VMB-613 armorers load 5-inch Forward Firing Aircraft Rockets (FFARs) onto a PBJ-1H's under-wing rocket mounts. These weapons were unguided and consisted of a 5-inch warhead attached to a 3.5-inch rocket motor. Post-war survey results showed that aircraft rockets were not very effective against Japanese concrete reinforced bomb shelters and gun emplacements.

Private First Class Michael D. Daniello delivering water in the squadron area. Since there was no source of freshwater on Kwajalein, it was necessary to desalinate seawater. Once desalinated, water was then distributed to numerous Lister bags which were hung in various locations throughout the squadron area.

Approaching their airstrip on Majuro, a flight of Marine F4U Corsairs returns following a strike on one of the bypassed Japanese held islands. VMB-613 frequently escorted F4Us and SB2Cs on these strikes as single engine aircraft could easily get lost on over water flights due to the lack of adequate navigation equipment.

The building to the right of the tents served as quarters for VMB-613's senior NCOs while the remainder of the squadron area is to the right. The top floor of these barracks served as quarters while laundry facilities were on the first floor. Due to the hot climate, the barracks always had areas open to the weather. This photograph was taken in the area where VMB-613's Officers Club was located.

Vehicles operated by VMB-613 were maintained and serviced by the Transportation Department in the garage seen in the center of the photograph. On the near end of the garage, a make-shift grease rack can be seen, complete with their drive-up ramps. Behind the garage, a number of vehicles can be seen parked in the squadron motor-pool.
