A three part interview with Nikki Van Hightower. The first interview includes a thorough recollection of Nikki's childhood, growing up, influences, and background. She speaks about the conditions of women in politics at the time, her decision to become involved in change, the women's movement at the national level and in the Houston area. She discusses various organizations made to help women, policies, and conferences. She concludes by giving advice to women interested in entering the world of politics. In the final part of the interview with Nikki Van Hightower, she discusses the development of the Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC), and the lack of services for women as a major factor in her decision to help establish HAWC. She also touched on the obstacles HAWC faced, and its transformation to an influential symbol.
